1st Year Finished!
I’ve now been living in Korea (the land of the morning calm) for just over a year. So far life has been pretty good over here. I renegotiated a 2nd year with the same school. Time will tell whether or not this was a mistake. I’m comfortable here and I’m very secure in the knowledge that I’ll get my paychecks on time and my due compensation when I am all done. For the most part I love my life here. Naturally I have my ‘bad’ days when the language barrier and cultural differences make me temporarily insane. However I subscribe to the mentality that I am a guest in someone else’s house, and should behave accordingly. The people over here have been very nice towards me and I am thankful for their kindness and generousity. I think last week was probably my hardest week. I actually got to thinking about the oppurtunity to be back in Canada and see friends and family. My sister is now studying abroad. I’ve missed fresh veggies from my fathers garden as well as the chance to dig them up with Dad. As I grew into my adult years the garden became a place where we could talk and spend time together. Next year I’ll be back in time to help with the dig up and it’ll be nice to see everyone again.

Just happened on your blog tonight. We check on a regular basis to see how things are and see the beautiful country that you’re in. We are happy and proud to have such a fine lad for a son.
I miss your conversations and idea bouncing that you are so famous for. We miss you calm and careful way of cutting and buttering the fingerling spuds and your obvious pleasure in eating. Your effort on a shovel would be nice as well!
All in all you’re a man we are proud of. Mom and Dad
