The Build – Day Six

The Build – Day Six

The task for today is the finish the inside and outside walls.  The kids are out first thing this morning and we get some play time in before work starts.  One of them who started out really shy has gotten over that.  She wants some pics, but more importantly she wants to get her hands on the camera.  So she poses for a picture and then tries to poke the lens.  I show her the picture and she giggles and starts poking all the buttons on the back of my camera.  Luckily she didn’t delete anything or damage the camera.  It’s time to get down to work.

I’m off pit duty today, because one of my toes was cut the day before.  Nothing too serious, no stitches or anything.  I cleaned it out well the night before and got some iodine on it.  So today my task was digging and mud transport.  I was able to keep up with demand but  picking those bowls of mud up off the ground, transporting them to another spot and placing it down on the ground is hard on the back.  When I wasn’t transporting I was on the shovel.  By day’s end I was good and sore.    The Nepali ladies on the job site have started to warm to us now as well.  One of them wanted to get some pictures with each of us working at the back of the house.  On the front side, the game of the day is kick the ball.  I’m kicking it back and forth and I notice some of the other locals smiling by the roadside and in the yard.  The walls are done now.  Only the floor (also made of mud) remains.
