Halfway there…

Halfway there…

I’m now finished my vacation, and I’m back at the school.  I had a open class just four days into the new semester.Thankfully it’s  my final one of the year.  For anyone who doesn’t know, an open class is basically a teaching demonstration.  Teachers from other schools as well as a supervisor or two from the education board sit in the back of the classroom and watch you teach.

My regular KT managed to get out of having to do an open class with me this year.  The perks of being a head teacher I suppose.  He did assign another teacher to co-teach with me.  It went really well, the replacement teacher was really good.

Vacation was great though.  Even with the rain and fog Jeju was beautiful.  While the weather kept me out of Goje again and managed to break my trip in half (Stupid typhoon!) I’m back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the last few months of co-teaching.  Though this year hasn’t been all I hoped for I’m going to make the best of it and finish on a good note.

Before the school year began I made some resolutions and since this is sort of a half-way point, I think now would be a good time for a midterm report card.  Here’s the resolution and how I fared.

1. Learn a Korean Martial Art. **F**
With a masters in the works and other resolutions I’ve had to give up something, there simply isn’t enough time.

2.  Get back into shape (170 lbs) **A+**
Since may I’ve been exercising 4 times per week with an elliptical machine.  I’ve gone from 207 lbs to 184 lbs as of last week.  Plus these days I’ve also started swimming  *pats self on the back*

3.  Finish all my Korean Books **C-**
I’ve actually worked on my Korean a fair bit, mostly vocabulary. However, it still doesn’t look like I’ll be finishing all the books.  Again my Masters has been the culprit.

Overall I’m happy with how I’ve done so far.
