First Days of Preschool
My oldest daughter (OD) has finished her first week of preschool. I don’t really recall my first day of school or preschool, but my memories of school are mostly unhappy. On the first day, OD cried and didn’t want to go. I had a bad experience with her teacher as well. I tried to say goodbye to OD and tell her things would be okay, but the teacher picked up OD before I could finish talking to her and asked me to leave. I was pissed, but I didn’t want to make a scene. I had gotten permission to work from home to be a part of that milestone, and the teacher’s behaviour did not leave me feeling we had picked a good place for OD. When we picked OD up, she was subdued. We bought her favourite ice cream and had little sundaes to celebrate her first day of preschool. She didn’t want to talk about the school. She just said she didn’t like it. The rest of the week was the same. She didn’t want to talk about anything that happened at school. RS and I have decided to give this a month and decide how to proceed afterward. For my part, I continue to be enthusiastic and curious about what she’s doing each day.
